ABOUT INSTALLATION

Comparison of installation times for pneumatic networks

– airexpress® Aluminum Piping: 1 day

– Carbon Steel Pipe: 3 days

– Polypropylene pipe: 2 days

– Stainless Steel Pipe: 3 days

ANODIZED ALUMINUM

The assembly of the airexpress® pipe does not require special equipment or highly qualified personnel; it does not consume electrical energy; it does not require welding; the pipe is assembled directly on the line. Furthermore, since it is lighter than carbon steel or galvanized steel (up to three times less), it is easier to support and reduces the risk of accidents due to overweight in trusses, purlins and beams.

The connections to the machines can be easily made at any point of the airexpress® pipe. No detailed drawings are required from the outset, and modifications to the network and additional tappings can be made at any time, without requiring a lot of time, “even when hot”.

Cutting of profiles, Deburring of profiles, Coupling of fittings and plates, Alignment of fittings and plates, Drilling with guide plate, Fixing, adjusting and checking, Pipe bending, Assembly at service point.

OTHER MATERIALS

CARBON STEEL

The assembly of carbon steel pipe (Schedule 40) requires highly qualified and certified personnel (expert welder and his assistant) in order to comply with existing standards; also pre-assemble the sections on the ground and paint them (ICONTEC 3458), then hoist them with hoists or manacles, thus increasing the risk of accidents, in addition to increasing the cost of the work by the consumption of electricity due to the welder and the threading machine. In addition, studies and calculations of stresses and tensions in the trusses are needed so that they do not fail due to the weight. This pipe suffers a corrosion process over time due to the humidity in the compressed air.

POLYPROPYLENE

Polypropylene pipe requires special thermo fusion equipment and qualified personnel for assembly; it also requires a lot of support to try to avoid buckling or pockets. In hot weather after 20 degrees Celsius the expansion is very high. The pipe diameter reduction can be generated by the thermo fusion process.

STAINLESS STEEL

The stainless steel piping needs special tools, such as a welding tool, a welding machine or a graver, the costs are very high and it requires highly qualified personnel for its installation.

BEHAVIOR OF MATERIALS OVER TIME

ANODIZED ALUMINUM

Due to its chemical composition, the airexpress® pipe has a very low level of corrosion in its internal walls, so its roughness is kept at low levels, maintaining over time the air flow that is used.

This property allows maintaining constant energy consumption for the company.

Pipes uninstalled after 2 years of installation.

CARBON STEEL

Carbon steel and galvanized steel pipes have high levels of corrosion, which on the one hand increases its roughness and on the other hand decreases its effective internal diameter, causing pressure drops and reductions in the air flow that can lead, which implies increases in the energy needed to make up for these deficiencies (increased pressure in the compressor), with high additional costs for the Company. Some data indicate that there are cases of losses or reduction of diameters up to 40% more than the initial ones, which implies even greater cost overruns. Recall that an increase in compressor outlet pressure of 2 PSIg represents 1% more energy consumption.
